The Class: Barre Sculpt

Our signature class and the foundation of the Barre Belle technique. Perfect for clients of any level, this 60min experience sequences a combo of energizing strength and flexibility training for a full body workout that burns fat, exercises the heart and targets all areas of the body: from the arms and abs, to thighs, seat and back. This head-to-toe training is done barefoot. Posture, balance and alignment occur from the ground up and will translate through your entire kinetic chain (ankle-knee-hip-lower back). There is a strong focus on form and consciousness which connects the core-to-breath-to-mental focus; accelerating results and creating deep, dynamic strength. Exercises are coordinated with current/fun music. No previous dance or barre experience is required.

The Studio

We built most of what you’ll see in the space and if we couldn’t do it, we found expert craftsmen who could. Every detail has been lovingly thought through to create a welcoming, energizing, and inspiring environment: high ceilings, color therapy and a thumping sound system. Here you will look and feel like a rockstar.

Our studio floor is cork: offering comfortable barefoot movement. Did you know that cork is anti-microbial, hypoallergenic, and environmentally friendly?

We're located at 113 N. La Brea, in the new District La Brea between Beverly and 1st. The street is lined with fantastic restaurants and shops for you to peruse pre or post workout.

We provide the perfect environment for your workout experience: train hard, feel challenged, and be a part of our community.

*Parking can be tricky at different times of the day so please leave with ample time to find a spot! There are meters on La Brea available between 9am-4pm, parking in the surrounding neighborhoods until 6pm, valet next door (we do not validate), and a public parking garage via the alley in the back. If you have any trouble please give us a call, we're happy to help!

The Etiquette

  • First-timers must arrive 10-15 minutes early to get safely set up for class. If you have never been with us before we can not let you in late under any circumstances.

  • Latecomers are welcome to join class up to 5 minutes past the start time (unless it’s your first visit). Call to let us know you're a little behind and we’ll reserve your spot up to 5 minutes after class starts. Your spot will be released as early as 2 minutes before the class starts if class is sold out and you haven’t yet checked in or called to say you are running late.

  • Class cancellations must be made at least 6 hours before class. Any cancellations or modifications to your reservation must be made at least 6 hours in advance for your class credit to get returned to your account or to make sure you don't receive a late Fee charges of $15.

  • If you need to leave early please quietly make your exit class before the final stretch. Please note leaving during the stretch will not be permitted unless there's an emergency.

  • Follow the instructions consistent with your personal abilities. Refrain from comparing your skill level to others in class. This is your workout and we’ll help you progress at a pace that’s right for you

  • The class is taught barefoot but if you prefer socks just make sure they’re grippy. Mats and towels are provided.

  • We have a water filter station to fill up any reusable water bottle or we sell Fiji water for $2.

  • Our top-of-the-line mats offer maximum cushion support for your spine and joints while the triple heat-sealed surface allows sweat and water to bead right off. They’re non-toxic and antimicrobial.

  • All races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations, and genders are welcomed. Our studio is a safe place for everyone to sweat, stretch and sculpt together!

Most importantly, bring an open, positive mind and be prepared for an incredible workout experience that will change each day you walk through our door.

Marnie Alton, founder and creator of the BARRE BELLE technique, has studied dance and movement since the age of 8. She moved from Canada to Los Angeles almost 10 years ago and was immediately drawn to 'barre fitness': a workout that builds strength and flexibility based on many of the same disciplines she learned as a dancer. Marnie was one of the original instructors at the Bar Method, and has spent the last decade training hundreds of celebrities, athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike. Marnie believes that feeling powerful and confident in your own skin is what it's all about. She developed BARRE BELLE as an effective way to achieve this goal.

"Women travel from the mountains to the ocean to attend Marnie's classes and the heartbreaks to be tamed at her barre come in as many sizes and shapes as their body types"
